Blender w/ CUDA for Ubuntu 16.04
Quick commands
$ sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install nvidia-current
$ sudo apt install nvidia-cuda-toolkit nvidia-modprobe
This installs the latest stable Nvidia drivers and necessary tools. After a restart (might not be necessary) start blender and go into File -> User Preferences -> System
and under Compute Device
choose CUDA
.
